I know that there are many campo dwelling extranjeros (foreigners) who would like to sell their produce or handicrafts at the farmers market in Maella but in the three years that I have lived here I have never seen anyone actually do it.
Some of the reasons for this are:
- Not being confident in speaking Spanish or the local dialect
- Not having enough product to justify a table
- Not understanding how to actually get a table
- Feeling too shy
Last week the Freedom Farm had a small table at the Maella market and although the response wasn’t overwhelming we sold some of our cheese and made some friends along the way.
Starting tomorrow we will be hosting a community stall where you can come and join in for the princely sum of €1. We can help you out with your Spanish and even if you only have a few items to sell, by working together we might just get your items sold!
We already have our first market partner starting tomorrow. Christie will be selling her own chic clothing and soft furnishings and from next week Flo will be bringing along her hand-made macramé crafts.
If you’d like to join us all you have to do is turn up at the market on Thursday morning with the items you’d like to sell. If you want to secure a good spot then you need to arrive between 8 – 8:30.
Don’t have anything to sell? Please come and see us anyway, we need all the support we can get!
If you’d like to know more or you have a question to ask please don’t hesitate to contact us at freedomfarm18@gmail.com
